100 years of pentecost
This article from will give u an idea what our church will soon be celebrating.
One thing that bothers me is not the celebration but the people who are going to be invited for the event.
Benny and Kenneth! Oh, I think I am going to be miserable!!
Does the Assemblies of God endorse their ministry? If yes, I think my time in the A/G is numbered. But I pray that the Lord will give me wisdom, I want to be sure and don't want to be an idiot and act on impulse.
I had a good chat with a sister-in-christ over what was preached yesterday and I did mentioned about my doubts. I am glad that she didn't have a problem with what she believed in. I hope I can be like her too. I used to have a "simple faith" but as I receive more knowledge, that faith seems to be dwindling. But as I evaluate, I realised that I have "simple faith" in a way that when the bible says something, like the qualities of the fruit of the spirit or what we should do towards others, etc, I'll simply believe and obey. If the Bible says so, I believe. But when it comes to something like the form of pentacostalism that is causing confusion and doubt, I can't just believe everything the church or the preacher says.Is that a good thing or a bad thing? For once I shall use a phrase that I normally didn't like said to me...
"I don't know"
Just as I typed that last sentence, the mailman delievered the package from Amazon.com. It's my Zao and Rush DVDs. What a timely distraction. But I'm leaving the house soon. So it's a more timely distraction. Time to pray on the bus. I really need the peace of God man. Not in the way the preacher preached about yesterday. I really need the Lord's Peace.

what troubles me is not the way in which God can work - He can cause whole towns to quiver and shiver for all I know, but what is most troubling is what lies in the hearts of those who expect this of Him. it is by far one of the most tangible, most easily seen move of God and therefore it appeals to our senses. if we can see it/feel it, then we believe God is real.
what troubles me is if after this and lives are still back to normal. what troubles me is how young people demand from God an "experience of their lifetime" yet every day of their lives they don't practise the presence of God.
i don't like the way pastors/preachers use asuza-street-type accounts to get people excited about God.
it's like sensationalism. it's like my stand against using emotion-evoking pictures for charity's sake. for charity's sake, you'll leave the poor and homeless alone and actually go out there and help them. not that there's anything wrong with the picture per se, but in the use of the picture. don't know if i'm making my drift clear.
oh gosh. this has become a mini entry
keeping my identity secret because i'm a coward for speaking up =p
YWAM joins forces with Benny Hinn
http://www.letusreason.org/Curren29.htm
Assemblies of God in Italy denounces Benny Hinn's and toronto revival, USA Assemblies of God wrote a 9-page denouncing Benny Hinn and the laughing revival as counterfeit. Including many evangelists such as David Wilkerson, Jacob Prasch, Thomas Chakko, Phillip Powell, and many others.

Endorsement of Brownsville John Kilpatrick (even when John Kilpatrick made a false prophesy) by the ASsemblies of God and A/G churches do endorse the Latter rain doctrine (relating to the Word faith preachers like Benny Hinn and Copeland ministry)

Benny Hinn was endorsed by NZ A/G unofficially and endorsed Rodney Howard Browne's laughing revival tho. too. http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/shocking_facts_about_benny_hin.html
Sister-in-Christ, I understand your fear of revealing your identity. I respect that. Keep praying, sistah!
Anonymous, I am aware of those websites that u mentioned. Thanks for highlighting them here.
Let's pray for revival. If revival is going to come to Singapore or my church. It's going to happen God's way! Not man's way!
i read this post yesterday and my instinctive reaction was to post a comment.BUT.i deceided to stop to think abt it 1st b4 i made any comments.
after thinking,i've come to one conclusion.too much any one thing is bad.indulge in too much of the word without the Spirit would be disastrous too.(im not saying tt we SHOULDNT base our lives ont he word,i believe in grounding ourselves int he word too)and vice versa, too much of the "move of the Spirit" and to quote the sister, "sensationalism" is disasturous too.
Our youths need to know the truth.and we need to live our lives in moderation.what i mean is that we need to educate our youths that they CANNOT and MUST NOT live and breathe on such experiences.i would not deny the fact that people ARE chnaged thru such experiences.there was much revial during the asuza-street period.GOd moved mightily.but they have to know that when the experiences wear off, when the "moment" is over, how are they going to live their lives? they need to know that the experiences will not last forever, only the word of God will.
having said all that,i really think i need the discernment of the Holy Spirit, because i dont want to hinder the move of God.God can and has moved in ways we cannot imagine.
The Lord is good. He will guide us in His ways. Thanks for sharing, Rachoo!!
Theres a difference between form and substance. Difference in form is alright but a difference in substance is fatal. Substance-tively there needs to be an authoritative. And we know that the authority is the word of God and that is what we base everything on. If Christ lives in us and we are a follower of him that we may vary in forms but have we better dare not vary in substance.
Ravi Zacharias puts it this way:
It doesn't matter what label we put on a empty bottle, whats important is that the label should match whats inside the bottle.
Its my prayer that in all we do or will do, that we will not hinder the move of the holy spirit. I think i spoke this to the youth congregation years ago:
Everyone of us is a "gate keeper" And its up to us to use the key in our hands to open that gate to allow the holyspirit to flow. Now note that we as leaders have a heavy responsiblity. As much as we can open the gates, we can unknowingly shut it tight as well. And when we shut it tight we not just do it for ourselves but we do it for the whole congregation.
In saying this lets not forget that God's ulitmate goal is holiness in our life, not some sensational exprience of momental peace or happiness. I like the word "sensationalism" that sister-in-christ said. I tot this word sharply captures the state of the chruch today.
Sometimes we get so close to hearing the gospel again and again that we forget the beautiful power it has. And that in some cultres and places the sounds of it is still new and fresh.
Lets countinue to pray that the church will not get weaker and weaker because we have sarcificed the mind and made everything just an emotional thing.
