I've been reading John Piper again to regain my passion for the supremacy of God in all things for the joy of all men. I am reminded that God is most glorified in me when I am most satisfied in Him. We're constantly called to seperate ourselves from enjoying the pleasures of this world to pursue to will of God; which means that to know the will of God, one must give up the seeking of pleasures in this life. Thus we face a conflict. Can we seek the will of God and yet enjoy the pleasures of this life? Pastor Piper helped me reslove this conflict in seeking the will of God we can also seek pleasure in this life if our greatest pleasure in this life is God Himself! It goes back to creation; the purpose of God in creating man. That is to glorify him. God did not create us to look into the mirror to see how good we look, but He created us to marvel, to stand in awe and to savour Himself through all that He has made. Psalm 19:1 proclaims that the work of His hands declare His glory. God exhibits His awesomeness through the vastness, beauty and mystery of the earth and of the universe. That is enough to "wow" me; to put me into submission; to spread my hand out with my head lifted up to the sky to declare with the words of the hymn, "My God, How Great Thou Art!"
Have been listening to a lot of Matt Redman recently as well. Two songs sticks out. "Blessed be Your name" and "What I have vowed". These two songs has been my prayer to God.
1:Lord, I am not my own, no longer my own,
Living now for You, and everything I think
All I say and do is for You, my Lord.
2:Now, taking up the cross, walking on Your paths,
Holding out Your truth running in this race,
Bowing every day, all for You, my Lord.
CHORUS:And what I have vowed I will make good.
Every promise made will be fulfilled
'Till the day I die, every day I live
Is for You, is for You, is for You,
Is for You, is for You, is for You
3:Earth has nothing I desire that lives outside of You,
I'm consumed with You.
Treasures have no hold,
Nothing else will do, only You, my Lord.
CHORUS
Chia Ee is not 7 months old. Everyday is a joy for me and Xiaowei and Xiaowei is an even greater joy to me than ever. My delight in Christ is reflected in my love for her and everything that I do. I am going to hold on to Christ in whatever I do.
Keep me in You forever, Lord!
